Step Deck Trailers

A Step deck trailer, also known as a drop deck trailer, is a type of flatbed trailer with two deck levels: an upper deck and lower deck. The lower deck is situated closer to the ground than a standard flatbed trailer, and it typically spans the entire length of the trailer. The upper deck is short and is usually positions over the rear wheels of the truck.

Key Features

  • Two Deck Levels: The dual-deck design allows for more flexibility in loading and transporting cargo, especially when dealing with taller or oversized items
  • Lower Deck: The lower deck offers extra clearance for taller cargo, making it suitable for items that may exceed height restrictions on standard flatbed trailers.
  • Upper Deck: The upper deck can be used for shorter cargo and it often extends only over the rear section of the trailer. It can also provide additional space for extra cargo.
  • Ramps: Some step deck trailers have built-in ramps to facilitate the loading and unloading of equipment and machinery.
  • Versatility: Step deck trailers are versatile and are commonly used for transporting a wide range of goods, including construction equipment, heavy machinery, vehicles, oversized loads, and more.
  • Size and Capacity: The size and weight of a step deck can vastly depend on the trailers design and specifications and number of axels. Step decks are generally capable of handing substantial weight.
